Here rest the remains of JAMES RILEY of BRADSHAW ROW in OVENDEN who departed this life July 16th 1789 in the 73rdyear of his age. Also lies interred under this stone TIMOTHY AKROYD of LANE HEAD OVENDEN, Nephew of the above who departed this life March 5th 1819 in the 79th year of his age. The Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first 1 Thess They were two of the first founders of this chapel and largest subscribers to it. TIMOTHY was more than 40 years an acceptable Class Leader among the Society of this place. He was a man of grave deportment, strict in integrity and unaffected and uniform piety. Reader follow him so far as he followed Christ. In youth I learned the way to real happiness. When age came on with powerful sway that caused my nature to decay in promis'd joyfulness. |

This Website is indebted to the Calderdale Family History Society for all of the burial information contained in the middle and south sections.
The actual burial records have not as yet been found, so only those graves whose inscriptions can be read are included in the database.
There are several thousand more burials in this section, but as yet we do not have the information.
Details of this can be found on their website www.cfhsweb.com or email their Search Coordinator at search@cfhsweb.com
